The war in Sudan has forced millions of families to flee their homes. Now those caught up in the conflict are facing yet another crisis – hunger.
Since April 2023, the escalating conflict in Sudan has forced millions of people to flee their homes. In crowded refugee camps in neighbouring countries, families are vulnerable to the spread of deadly diseases.
The situation deteriorated in 2024. The conflict shows no sign of ending and, in August of that year, famine was confirmed in parts of North Darfur. Now, over 25 million people – more than half of Sudan’s population – are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.
A better world needs all of us. That’s why CAFOD has been working in Sudan since 2004. With your support for our Sudan Emergency Appeal in 2024, local partners are successfully distributing emergency food packages and helping to fix water pipelines damaged by the conflict. We’re also supporting children whose families have been displaced by fighting.
